Four Jesuits tell their own vocation stories....
Born in St. Helens, Rob was baptised in the Church of England. He studied Chemistry at Oxford University, completing a doctorate. Here he tells the story of his journey from being a vociferous atheist to joining the Jesuit novitiate.
Paul grew up in Crosby near Liverpool, and went to school at St. Mary’s. He studied Maths at Liverpool University, trained as a teacher. Having done voluntary work for a year he applied and was accepted into the Jesuit novitiate. He tells his story of how being drawn to the Jesuits through doing retreats at Loyola Hall, he now finds himself working with Indigenous people in the interior of Guyana, South America.
Nick was named after the Jesuit saint Nicholas Owen and his parents were members of the Christian Life Community, so from a young age he was aware of the Society of Jesus. Here he tells the story of how his vocation grew from a childhood desire to be a priest to the time when, after university and teaching, he entered the Jesuit novitiate.
