Led Exercises

Whilst you are visiting this site you may wish to take a moment to pray using the 'Pause for prayer' exercises as a support. The led meditations are brief and designed to provide you with a theme upon which you might continue to reflect once the exercise is over. If you are unable to make use of the audio files, the texts of the prayers are given below.

‘Let me know your love, O Lord’

Music: ‘Love's Mystery’ (Bread of Life) from Every Secret Longing by Boyce and Stanley, CJM music

I may not be sure of my path in life, but if I know that I am loved by God, then I can take the next steps free from fear. So for a moment I shall become still and I shall pray for the gift to know how much God loves me. For the space of a minute, I shall very slowly repeat to myself verse 8 of psalm 143, ‘In the morning let me know your love, O Lord’, ‘In the morning, let me know your love, O Lord’, ‘In the morning let me know your love, O Lord’.

Glory be to the Father ….

‘In the Lord, I’ll be ever thankful’

Music: ‘Oracion Preparatoria’ from Vamos Caminando by Juan Carlos Merchan SJ, Columbia Province of the Society of Jesus

I find there is so much I want in life, that I am afraid to make a choice. How can I give up good things to follow the one path that may be right for me? Lord, I desire to follow you and I know that are good to me. Help me now to recall some of the things that I am grateful for, help me to savour their goodness, to appreciate their preciousness. Help me to find freedom from always wanting more, by knowing what I have already been given.

Glory be to the Father…

‘My peace I give you’

Music: ‘Calm me Lord’ from Fire of Love by Margaret Rizza, Kevin Mayhew publishing

Jesus, when your friends were afraid, you came to them and said, ‘Peace be with you’, ‘Courage, it is I, do not be afraid’. I would like to take these words of yours to heart, to hear you saying them to me. So for a moment I will become still, and picture you here and hear you say, ‘Peace be with you’, ‘Courage, it is I’, ‘Peace be with you’.

Glory be to Father...

‘A pure heart create for me O God’

Music : ‘Andante’ from Quand Renait Le Matin by Keur Moussa, l'Abbaye de Keur Moussa

I would like to do something in life that I can really commit myself to, that I can do with passion. So Lord, move my heart to desire a way of life that will make me the person you want me to be. Draw me to what will let me be truly free, truly joyful, and most truly your servant. Lord. ‘A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me.’ (Ps 51) ‘A pure heart create for me O God…’

Glory be to the Father...

‘Let me share my heart with you, Lord’

Music: ‘With Humble Offering’ (The Source of Life) from Every Secret Longing by Boyce and Stanley, CJM music

I try to pause for a moment to listen to myself, to see how I am reacting to all that I am reading and seeing and hearing. What is stirring within me, what’s encouraging me, what’s frightening me. And as I notice these things I will speak to you about them, Lord. I want you to know how I am feeling. I want you to help me see what matters most.

Glory be to the Father....
