Profiles Of Second Year Novices 08-09
Denis Boers, 48, Flanders
I’ve had a whole life before joining. Studied Economics, career on the financial side, MBA in late 30s. Then a growing sense of not finding a purpose anymore in competition. Return to a more active church life, quest for a mission, the Exercises – and the Jesuits.
Passionate about learning and doing. Intense. Focussed. Not the emotional sort of person. That’s who I used to be. They say that in the Jesuits you become a new person. They’re wrong. Who you were is taken up into a life of service. And added to greatly and persistently – in unsuspected ways. That’s what happened and is happening to me.
Denis left the novitiate before taking his vows - all the good wishes and prayers of the community go with him.
